National Committee for Physics

The National Committee for Physics (NCP) aims to foster physics in Australia, to link the Academy to Australian physicists and relevant scientific societies, and to serve as a link between Australian and overseas physicists, primarily through the International Union for Pure and Applied Physics and the International Commission for Optics.

The NCP launched the Physics decadal plan 2012–2021: building on excellence in physics 500 Internal Server Error

International Year of Light

On 20 December 2013, The United Nations General Assembly 68th Session proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies. Activities were planned for people of all ages and all backgrounds from all countries to enjoy and appreciate the central role of light in science and culture, and as a cross-cutting scientific discipline that can advance sustainable development. In Australia, activities were coordinated by the organising committee chaired by NC Physics member Professor Ken Baldwin (Australian National University).
